mother and homemaker and had many friends. She was a Protestant.

Burnout Cemetery.
Survivors include five children, Mazelle Hardin, Horace Hardin and Hollis

OBITUARY
God opened up his arms and welcomed one of his angels home. Mrs. Mary Lou Spears Casey was born on August 28, 1915, in Bexar, Alabama. She departed her earthly home for her heavenly home on April 30, 2008. She was the daughter of Garfield and Alice Spears. As a child, she attended Ada Hanna School. She united with Christ at Mt. Zion I Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. She later transferred her membership to Mt. Zion II Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where she remained an active and faithful member until her health became compromised. She was a member of the Stewardess Board and the Missionary Society. She enjoyed notebook singing and lending a helping hand to others in need throughout the community.
She was a domestic servant at the Hamilton Holiday Motel for over 20 years. She was employed at the Tremont Garment Plant in Tremont, Mississippi as a skilled seamstress. Mary Lou, as she was often called, possessed the God-given talent of creating clothes, sometimes without the aid of a pattern for herself, her children and her friends.
Her greatest title was that of a loving mother and wife. She was united in marriage to the late Matthew Corbet Casey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Lucille Shepard, and a special person that was raised as a sister, Vada Colburn, one daughter, Eva Dale Casey, and one son, William Morris Casey also preceded her in death along with two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Cherishing the memories of Mary Lou Casey are her seven daughters, one son, and one daughter-in-law. She was born in Kemper County Mississippi to the late J.T. and Jessie Hammond
Harbour. She has been a resident of the Sulligent area since 1968 and was a
member of the Academy Baptist Church near Vernon, AL. Mrs. Hollis retired from
the Lamar County Health Department from the Home Health Division were she was a
Registered Nurse.

He was a former resident of Guin and had operated the Hollis Motel in Guin for
several years. He had lived in Gadsden the past 2 years, was a member of the
Rock Creek Baptist Church in Bessemer and was a Veteran of the Korean War having
served in the US Army.

Redden Thomas Wallace age 97 of Guin, Alabama passed away Friday April 25,
2008 at the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.
Born in Beaverton, AL. He is the Son of the late Aaron and Alice Harton Wallace
and the Husband of the late Alice Pearl Metcalfe Wallace. He had lived in the
Guin area all of his life and was a member of the Guin Church Of Christ.
He is survived by 4 Daughters, Mittie Nalls of Fayette, AL, Lillie (Jr.) Key of
Guin, AL, Amanda Hackman of Guin, AL and Judy McDaniels of St. Louis, MO.
3 Sons, Redden ( Anna Jean) Wallace, Jr., George (Ada) Wallace and Mack (Sandra)
Wallace all of Guin, AL. 21 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great
Great Grandchild. Son In Law, Clint Hubbert of Montgomery, AL.
He was also preceded in death by a Daughter, Mary Hubbert, 2 Sons-In-Law Archie
Nalls and James McDaniels, 5 Sisters and 6 Brothers.
Services will be Friday May 2, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel with Burial in
the Beaver Creek Cemetery. Bro Arthur Freeman and Bro. Steve Clark officiating.

Charles B. - Age 98 . - Sulligent, AL
Charles B. Norton age 98 of Sulligent, AL, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the
Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, AL.
Born in the Pine Springs Community to the late Claud Cylvester and Ella Plunkett
Norton and the husband of the late Willie Mae Thomas Norton. He was a member of
the Pine Springs United Methodist Church and was Past Master of the Masonic
Lodge # 808 and a member of the Masonic Lodge #532. C.B. had lived in
Birmingham, AL for Thirty-Six years and retired from U. S. Steel as an equipment
operator. He was liked and loved by all who knew him with his witty sense of
humor and personality. He had many friends and was a good friend to others. The
sum of his life would be too lengthy to tell in a few words. He will be greatly
missed by family and friends, but he left a legacy to be remembered.
Survived by One Son: Charles (Geneva) Norton of Kimberly, AL, One Sister: Billie
Fay (D.D.) Real of Hamilton, AL, Three Grandchildren: Beverly Green, Barry
Norton, and Melanie Harris, Five Great Grandchildren: Christopher, Amanda,
Jessica, Emily, and Savanna, and Eight Great Great-Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his Parents and his Wife and Three Sisters: Avis Irvin,
Luree Otts, and Grace Anderson, and One Brother: Paul Norton.

Home Chapel with burial in the Pine Springs Cemetery. Bro. Mitch Nethery

Mr. John Lee Stoner, age 65, of Birmingham, AL passed away Saturday, April 19,
2008 at St. Vincent’s East in Birmingham. Funeral services will be held
Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with
burial in the Furnace Hill Cemetery in Vernon. Visitation will be held at the
funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Mr. Stoner was born
February 25, 1943 in Valparaiso, IN to the late John and Marilou Yotter Stoner.
He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Stoner was a graduate of Valparaiso High School
where he excelled in football. He later graduated from Ball State University in
Muncie, IN. He loved his work as a trainer of greyhound dogs and was previously
employed at the Birmingham Greyhound Race Course.

Mrs. Bessie Cantrell, age 93, of Columbus, MS formerly of Beaverton, AL
passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from the Otts
Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in the Webb Cemetery. Bro. Danny Stanford will
be officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 until
service time at 2:00 P.M. Pallbearers will be Daryl Tucker, Bradley Cantrell,
Devin Cantrell, Bobby Gene Cantrell, Gerie Yeatman and Tommy Forrester. Mrs.
Cantrell was born March 18, 1915 in Lamar County, AL to the late John James and
Rosanna Turman Eastman. She was married to the late Ollie Cantrell. Mrs.
Cantrell was a member of the Union Chapel Baptist Church. She was a homemaker
and enjoyed quilting.

Mrs. Laura Pitts Otts, age 77, of Sulligent, AL in the Crews Community passed
away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the Care Center of Vernon. Funeral services
will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from the Otts Funeral Home
Chapel with burial in the Prospect Cemetery. Officiating ministers will be Bro.
Claude Hand and Bro. John Nicholson. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening
from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Serving as Active Pallbearers
will be Chad Wheeler, Kevin Wheeler, Patrick Gosa, Brent Egger, Casey Baughn and
Joey Sandlin. Mrs. Otts was born on April 9, 1931 in Lamar County, AL to the
late Houston and Margie Canterbury Pitts. She was married to the late I.J. Otts.
Mrs. Otts was a member of the Prospect Primitive Baptist Church. She had
previously worked as a seamtress at Munsingwear in Guin, AL. She enjoyed
gardening.
