Arleigh Granzow age 79, of Hamilton, Alabama, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 of complications of Parkinson disease.
Memorial service, Saturday, October 10, 2009, at the First United Methodist
Church in Hamilton, Alabama.
Arleigh was born January 17, 1930 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Elmer and Hazel
Granzow. He was retired from Munsingwear, Inc. and also the City of Hamilton, Alabama, where he
served for several years as a Fireman. He was the husband of Deborah Granzow.
Arleigh was a pilot, and in earlier times he would fly his family back to
Minnesota to visit friends and relatives there. He was also a scuba diver and
several times he assisted rescue and recovery teams in the area in recovering
victims of drowning. He loved working in his shop with wood and metal as
well as his and Deb's flower and vegetable garden. Arleigh was
talented in many fields.
He is survived by his wife, "Deb" Deborah Granzow; 1 daughter, Diane (Lee) Doughty; 2 sons, Curtis (Betsy) Granzow and Brian Granzow; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Editor's note: I am so glad to have called him my friend. He will be missed by so many.

Walter Weeks, age 98, of Beaverton, Alabama, passed away Monday, October 19,
2009 at the residence.
Visitation at the Otts Funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Funeral service, 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Beaverton Free Will
Baptist Church. The body to lie-in-state at the church from 2:00 p.m. until
service time at 3:00 p.m. Burial in the

Walter Weeks was born June 10, 1911 in Lamar County, Alabama to the late William
T. and Nellie Bell Terrell Weeks. He was married to the late Mandy Lee Humbers
Weeks. Mr. Weeks was a member of the Beaverton Free Will Baptist Church. He had
worked as a farmer and drove a school bus for several years. Mr. Weeks was in
the CCC Camp in Dekalb, Mississippi. He enjoyed hunting and a love of animals.
Mr. Weeks enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to gospel music. He had a deep
love for his family.
He is survived by 2 sons, James Douglas (Judy) Weeks, Beaverton, AL., and Don
(Marlene) Weeks, Sulligent, AL.; 5 daughters, Mary Nell (James) Perkins,
Beaverton, AL., Carolyn Haynes, Sulligent, AL., Dean (Frank) Loftis, Columbus,
MS., Margaret (Dale) Nolen, Sulligent, AL., and Marilyn (Coy) Wilson, Sulligent,
AL.; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and
1 sister, Nell Crump, Beaverton, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William T. and Nellie Bell Terrell

at the residence.

Mr. Franklin was born on May 5, 1938 in Sulligent, AL to the late Clyde and
Abbie Harris Franklin. He was married to the late Lorraine Regus Franklin. Mr.
Franklin was a member of the Sulligent First United Methodist Church. He had
previously worked at Marathon Equipment in Vernon, AL. Mr. Franklin enjoyed
fellowship with friends at Mr. Gene’s and Mac’s Minit Mart in Sulligent.
He is survived by 1 son, Robert Franklin, Sulligent, AL.; 1 grandson, Mason
Franklin, Sulligent, AL.; 1 brother, Billy (Jamie) Franklin, New Orleans, LA.;
and 1 sister, Dorothy Alexander, Sulligent, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Abbie Harris Franklin; his
wife, Lorraine Regus Franklin; his step-father, Robert Pennington.

Martha Sue Guyton, age 49, of Greenwood Springs, Mississippi, passed away
Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the residence. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Monday,

Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday

Mrs. Guyton was born on October 30, 1959 in Lamar County, Alabama to Sterling
and Annie Belk Hayes. Mrs. Guyton was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and
crocheting quilts. She loved her family, especially her children and
grandchildren and spent time caring for her parents. She was of the Baptist
faith.
She is survived by her parents, Sterling and Annie Hayes, Sulligent, AL.; her
husband, John Guyton, Greenwood Springs, MS.; 1 daughter, Vanetta Rose Guyton

children’s Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Colburn attended Sulligent High School
and had previously worked as a seamstress for Glenn Enterprises. She enjoyed
flowers and reading, especially the Bible.
She is survived by her mother, Victory Sandlin, Vernon, AL.; her husband,
Randall Colburn, Vernon, AL.; 1 son, Bobby Lynn (Marie) Belk, Jr., Dothan, AL.;
1 daughter, Nichole (Jason) Lange, Hamilton, AL.; 2 grandchildren, Megan Belk,
and Trey Belk; 3 brothers, Raymond Sandlin, Mooreville, MS., Richard Sandlin,
Sulligent, AL., J.W. (Rita) Sandlin, Sulligent, AL.; 2 sisters, Wynell Colburn,

2009 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.

the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He was former owner of Stark Tile in Merritt
Island, FL. Mr. Stark had previously been a member of the Kiwanis Club, Lions
Club and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel Stark, Sulligent, AL.; 1 son: Rick (Bobbi)
Stark, Sugartown, LA.; 1 daughter, Cheryl (Dan) Weeks, Gadsden, AL.; 3

Mr. Billy Ray Craig, age 61, of Tupelo, MS passed away on Tuesday, October 20,
2009 at the North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.
No formal services are planned after cremation.
Mr. Craig was born January 14, 1948 in Helena, Arkansas to the late Samuel
Donald Craig and Elnora Lois Clair Craig. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr Craig
was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., serving during the Vietnam era. He
worked as a telemarketer. He enjoyed video games and watching football, the
History channel and Nascar racing. He was a nature lover, and an outdoorsman who
enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was very family oriented and cared deeply for
his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Barnhart, Nettleton, MS.; 1 son, Billy Shane
Craig, Smithville, MS.; 5 daughters, Nora Kimberly Craig, Tupelo, MS., Terri
Tamatha Craig, Tupelo, MS., Tonya Raechelle Livingston, Fulton, MS., Alicia
Inman, Mantachie, MS., and Jonna K. Williams, Tupelo, MS.; other children,
Richard Suddieth, Wayne Suddieth, and Lee Suddieth; 8 grandchildren; and several
great-grandchildren.
